This Friday, October 18, the Green Film Forum kicks off, an event that will bring together film professionals and sustainability experts in Mallorca for three days. The forum, which will take place at Casa Esment and Hotel Zoëtry, will offer discussions and sessions on how to integrate sustainable practices into audiovisual production and how to finance green initiatives in the industry.
The opening day, Friday, October 18, will begin at Casa Esment (Palma) with an edible forest plantation. Following this, Birgit Heidsiek from Green Film Shooting and Pedro Barbadillo, director of the Mallorca Film Commission, will offer a masterclass on sustainability in film production.
On Saturday, October 19, the forum will continue with in-depth discussions on sustainability in cinemas and film festivals, green innovation, and the role of the professionals who make these transformations possible. Participants include Javier Pachón (CineCiutat), Carmen Slijpen (Depot Cinema), Daniel Wuschansky (IL KINO), Teresa Morales (Punto de Vista Festival), Finn Breddin (LitchHaus), and Tom Henderson (The Vectar Project). The day will conclude with a free screening of the film Domingo Domingo by Laura García Andreu at CineCiutat, a collaboration between Green Film Forum and Another Way Film Festival.
On Sunday, October 20, a study on sustainability in the audiovisual sector by the Spain Film Commission will be presented, followed by a session on financing green projects with Carlota Guerrero (ICEC) and Benjamin Vanhagendoren (Wallimage). The forum will conclude with a masterclass by María Gómez on the role of producers in sustainability, featuring the case study of the film Una ballena, the first European film with a green seal.
The Green Film Forum aims to create a space for reflection and action to transform the audiovisual industry into a more sustainable model. Spaces are limited, and registration is still open.
